Northern Waters Glass

Northern Waters Glass is a collaboration project between Katie Lancaster and Zach Wiese, who say they’re drawn to glass due to its ethereal, flowing, and translucent qualities. They began working with borosilicate glass in Ashland, Wisconsin, on Lake Superior, in 2009. Forced to rely on research and self-teaching to grow since they were in such a remote location, they then developed those skills into a unique style of their own. In 2010, they were finally able to establish their own studio. Next, they were able to build up their equipment and expertise to where they chose to become full-time artists in November 2011 by carefully balancing between the hobby and their full-time work. And when you see their work, you’ll notice the space rocks, crystals, and eyeball clusters that decorate most of their pipes, glasses, and other creations, making them one-of-a-kind. Finally, they relocated their studio to Marquette, Michigan, in October 2012 where they live today.
